This statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ is of an official ๐ด๐๐ named Nesthoth. Wealthy Egyptians ๐๐๐๐๐ช would often have a statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ made of themselves because the Egyptians ๐๐๐๐๐ช believed that the soul ๐ of a person could inhabit the statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ after death ๐ ๐๐ฑ. Having such a statue in a temple ๐๐๐ meant that the deceased ๐ ๐๐ฑ person would always be present during temple processions.

This statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ is made of a rock ๐๐๐๐ called diorite. Diorite is classified as a coarse grained intrusive igneous rock ๐๐๐๐, meaning it was formed from the solidification of magma deep underground. Though it canโt be seen in this statue, the โcoarseโ classification means that the rock ๐๐๐๐ has crystals between the sizes of 1mm-10mm in diameter. While Egypt ๐๐ ๐๐ has an igneous rock base (as all continents do), diorite was a rare rock ๐๐๐๐ to find in Egypt ๐๐ ๐๐ because Egyptโs bedrock is mostly granitic. Since diorite was rare and difficult to work with, this statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ was most likely incredibly expensive to commission!
The base of the statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ contains the standard offering formula โan offering the king gives Osirisโ (๐๐๐ต๐๐๐น๐จ๐ญ). The rest of the hieroglyphs ๐น๐๐ช are too difficult for me to read!
The god ๐น Thoth ๐ ค๐ญ(in his baboon form) is seen with Nesthoth. Thoth ๐ ค๐ญ was the god ๐น of writing ๐๐๐ฅ!
