Not only was Maat ππ΄π£ππ¦ the goddess πΉπ of truth, fact, law, order and justice, βmaatβ was also a concept and a way of life in ancient Egypt ππ ππ. The noun βmaatβ is translated as βtruthβ so living by maat, meant living a pure and truthful life. Maat was also the balance and order in the whole universe.
Maat ππ΄π£ππ¦ is usually shown as a woman with a feather on her head. Her most important role was in the judgement of the dead π ππ±. The god Anubis πππͺπ ±π’ would weigh the heart πππ£ of the deceased against Maatβs ππ΄π£ππ¦ feather π to see if they were worthy to enter the Underworld πΌπΏππ and meet Osiris πΉπ¨π. If the deceasedβs heart πππ£ was balanced with the feather π, they were declared βtrue of voiceβ ππ€, and could meet Osiris πΉπ¨π.
