Hathor π‘ is one of the most prominent goddesses πΉπΉπΉπ of the Egyptian pantheon. Along with Isis π¨ππ₯, she is regarded as the βGodβs mother π ππΉβ of the pharaoh ππ», but is also the goddess πΉπ of love ππ, joy π«π£π, music πππ, and dance ππ ±π»- basically the fun things in life!Β
In some variations of Egyptian mythology, Hathor π‘ is also the wife πππ of Horus π π, and the daughter π π of Ra π³πΊπ. Hathor π‘ is usually associated with cows π€πππππͺ and can take the form of a cow π€ππππ in many forms of Egyptian art.
The piece above is a sistrum πππππ£, which is a musical instrument from ancient Egypt ππ ππ. A sistrum πππππ£ was a musical instrument that is similar to a modern rattle or tambourine. Since Hathor π‘ was the goddess πΉπ of music πππ, she was portrayed on most sistrums πππππ£πͺ in her human form! However, even though Hathor π‘ is represented as a woman πππππ, she is recognized easily because of her characteristic cow π€ππππ ears!
Music πππ was essential to many religious rituals, so it was considered to be extremely important! There is even a word in Middle Egyptian just for βSistrum Player/Music Priest: ππππβ!!!
I love music πππ and it is something that brings me so much joy π«π£π! I love how Hathor π‘ is associated with both of these things, because I do truly think that music πππ and joy π«π£π are linked together ππ – and I’m sure that the ancient Egyptian people did too!
BTS πππ΄ and Il Volo ππ ππ―ππ― are my absolute favorite artists and I love ππ listening to their music πππ! What I love ππ about BTS πππ΄ most are their lyrics – they have written some truly beautiful π€ songs!Β
