Here I am with the sarcophagus ππΉπππ of Nectanbo I π³π£π, a pharaoh ππ» who ruled πΎ during the 30th Dynasty (c. 379-361 B.C.E.)! In a previous entry I posted, we learned how to read the titularly from this sarcophagus ππΉπππ! So letβs take a bigger look at it!
Nectanbo I π³π£π was actually the founder of the 30th Dynasty, which is the last native dynasty of Egypt ππ ππ! The inscriptions πππ₯ on this sarcophagus ππΉπππ are beautifully π€ carved!
In the second picture ππ ±π, you can see Nectanbo I π³π£π in a kneeling position making an offering π΅ππͺπππ¦ of what seems to be bread π. I am making the assumption that it is bread π because the carving in the image ππ ±π is the same as the hieroglyph πΉπ: π! You can also see a Uraeus πππππ on his head πΆπ€!
Nectanbo I π³π£π was actually a military general ππ¦ and came to power by overthrowing the previous pharaoh, Nepherites II (who ruled πΎ for only four π½ months and has no known cartouches). It is thought that Nectanbo I π³π£π killed Nepherites!
Here are Nectanboβs cartouches that appear on the sarcophagus ππΉπππ:
π³π£π – Kheperkare (throne name)
ππ±πππ‘ππ – Nakht Nebef (birth name)
The sarcophagus ππΉπππ is at the British Museum!
