Here is a bronze ๐๐ค๐๐ฆ statue ๐๐๐๐ญ๐พ of the god ๐น Nefertem ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฏ!
Nefertem ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฏ is usually associated with perfumes, but this role is secondary to his role as the god ๐น of the lotus flower ๐ธ that rose out of the primeval waters ๐ in the Egyptian ๐๐๐๐ creation myth. However, in the Pyramid Texts (from the Old Kingdom), Nefertem ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฏ is actually described as โThe lotus blossom which is before the nose of Ra,โ so he was clearly always associated with both lotus flowers ๐ธ and perfumes/scents!
Nefertem ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฏ is always depicted as a young man ๐๐๐ค with a large lotus flower ๐ธ on his head ๐ถ๐บ! Less commonly, he can be shown as a human body with a lion ๐ณ๐น๐ฟ๐ head ๐ถ๐บ wearing the lotus ๐ธ headdress.
In Memphis ๐ ๐๐ค๐๐๐ด๐, Nefertem ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฏ was part of the triad with Ptah ๐ช๐๐๐ฑ and Sekhmet ๐๐๐ ๐๐, and was often portrayed as their child ๐๐๐. Father ๐๐๐-Mother ๐ ๐๐-Child ๐๐๐ triads and family ๐ ๐๐ ฑ๐๐๐๐ฆ units were extremely important to Egyptian culture! Nefertem ๐ค๐๐๐๐๐ฏ wasnโt commonly worshipped ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ข by the masses because he was usually associated with royal monuments. His association with Sekhmet ๐๐๐ ๐๐ also made him somewhat feared because she was a strong and ferocious goddess ๐น๐!
